INFORMATION ABOUT THE HEAD TENNIS PRO

John Puckett was named the Head Tennis Professional at the Middletown Tennis and Sports Complex in September 2005. Puckett coordinates MTSC's adult and junior tennis programs, offering private lessons and clinics, including Cardio Tennis for adults.

A lifelong tennis player, Puckett played number one singles and doubles at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Indiana, where he earned a chemical engineering degree. He also has an MBA from Wright State University. Puckett has been ranked in singles and doubles in the Ohio Valley District and has won USTA sanctioned and local tennis tournaments. He has also taught tennis at South Regency Tennis Club in Miamisburg. When not teaching or playing tennis, Puckett enjoys spending time with his wife and two children.

Puckett is a certified member of the United States Professional Tennis Association, the world's oldest and largest association of tennis-teaching professionals. He earned certification after an extensive examination of tennis-teaching and playing skills, stroke analysis, and demonstrations of group and private lessons. The certification included a two-hour written exam. The USPTA certification process provides assurance that the tennis-teaching professional's knowledge and abilities have been tested thoroughly. "It is important that a student know his or her teaching professional has the proper teaching credentials," said USPTA CEO.
